  3. Activate network port: The network port in your room will be activated when you notify us that you have moved in.
    • Contact the ITS Help Desk - 706-737-1482 (Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM) to request your port activation.
    • Your port will be activated within 24 hours.
  4. Connecting the network cable
    • Turn your computer off.
    • Plug one end of the network cable into the network port on your computer.
    • Connect the other end to the network jack on the wall. (The network jack is orange.)

    • Surf the web.
    • Use FTP to access your JagNET account (Refer to the JagNET brochure or go online at http://www.aug.edu/its for details on how to find your login name & password). You MUST authenticate your JagNET account from a lab computer (on campus or at University Village ) before you can access your JagNET web folder from your personal computer in your room.
    • Access MyASU.
  7. Desktop protection tools: We strongly recommend that you install antivirus software, Google toolbar, and an anti spyware utility. Keep these tools up to date as they will help protect your computer from viruses and other intrusive programs. Keep your operating system up to date with critical patches. This is true for Windows updates and Apple OS updates.
