Document Delivery

Circulation personnel will digitize and send to your email book chapters and journal articles not already available in digital form, for your personal research use. Copyright guidelines will be followed in producing the materials. The request form may be submitted electronically or in person.

Microforms

Purpose:
The Microform Room provides access to materials on microfilm (rolls) and microfiche (sheets) and the equipment necessary to print and digitize from these formats. Resources on microfilm and/or microfiche include older issues of newspapers from this region, ERIC (education) materials and historical research sets.

Users:
All ASU faculty, staff and students, as well as community members may use the Microforms Room. All users are required to stop by the Circulation Desk on the ground floor, present a valid picture ID, and sign in. After signing in users will be given the access code to the room. Users are required to sign out once they leave the Microforms Room.

Food and Drink:

Microform Machines and Computer Use:

Two scanning/digitizing/OCR stations are available. Both allow reading/digitizing of microfilm (rolls) and microfiche (sheets). A manual is available at the scanning station.

Location:

The Microforms Room is on the 2nd floor of the library. Self-service microform machines for viewing, printing, and digitizing are available. Get help by using the back-wall phone, which connects directly to the Circulation Desk.

A special ultra lens for viewing Library of English Literature (LEL) and Library of American Civilization (LAC) (ultrafiche-one quarter the size of normal microfiche cards) is kept at the Circulation desk.

Costs:

Printing costs $.10/print. The machines accept dimes and nickels only, and change is available at the Circulation Desk. Circulation staff will produce copies for $.15/print if advance notice is given.

Two digital scanners are available. The digital microfilms MS400 scanner (purchased with Student Technology Fees) is available for printing or digitally scanning from microfilm or microfiche. This machine accepts dimes only. However, there is no charge for currently registered ASU students to use this machine. With a valid JagCard students can check out the coin box bypass key at the Circulation Desk for a period of one hour.

Consequences:

Abuse of the resources in the Microforms Room may result in financial charges or banning from the Microforms Room or Reese Library. The room will be checked following each use.

Photocopying

Three coin-operated copiers are available in the library. Copies are $.10 each. Change may be obtained at the Circulation Desk or you may use your JagCard.

Additional copiers are available in Allgood Hall on the 1st floor (under stairs) or at the ASU Copy Center in Warehouse 204 (near the Science Building).

To charge copies of library materials to an ASU department, users must present a valid JagCard and be listed on the approved departmental charge lists at the Circulation Desk. Users will be given a departmental charge slip and directed to the reference room copier. The $.05 charge per copy will be billed to the appropriate department.

Searches

If an item has not been checked out or cannot be located, a search may be placed on the item by bringing the call number, author and title of the item to the Circulation Desk. A search will be conducted and the requester will be notified if the item is found.

Thesis binding
