Last Meeting: Minutes of March 29, 2006 were approved with corrections. |

Library Student Retention Committee: The committee met on the third floor to view and discuss rooms for possible use as a library family room. The committee agreed that room 319 (the former Audio Lab) was the best possible choice. Issues to consider include key control, furniture arrangement, signage, and the issuance of a legal disclaimer. Special Agenda Items: The FY07 library serials renewals will remain the same as last year. |

Area Reports: |
Reference: (Fay Verburg): Fay asked if anyone has had any difficulties with the new community user computer policy of limiting users to two hours. Everyone agreed the policy was working well so far. |
Library Instruction: (Camilla Baker): No report. |
Special Collections: (John O'Shea): No report. |
Technical Services: (Diane Black): No report. |
Automation: (Jeff Heck): There have been some problems printing with Pawprints in reference from the workstations using generic passwords. If a community user’s money for prints runs out and the computer will not allow any more prints, call ITS to reset the account. |
Outreach Librarian: (Mellie Kerins): Since Mellie is on leave, Fay asked in her absence for a clarification of the library closing procedures. Lights are to be turned off and the door locked when the reference librarian on duty makes the final closing announcement. |
Electronic Serials: (Martha Bryant): Martha reminded everyone of the offer from Thomson Gale for online access to literature resources such as Contemporary Authors and Contemporary Literary Criticism. She also mentioned an offer from EBSCO for online full-text access to Scientific American for years 1993-present. This duplicates coverage that we have except for two years. |
Government Documents: (Joe Schneider): No report. |
Media Services: (Bob Shannon for Rose Axton): Rose is currently out on medical leave. |
Circulation/Associate Director: (Camilla Reid): The library responded to the ASU Foundation funding request from Dr. Sullivan. The Battey family has donated early South Carolina land grant documents to Special Collections. 1,167 LibQual surveys were completed and the results will be available soon. Circulation has two new employees, Yadira Payne and Jan Alexander. Yadira has a B.A. in Spanish from ASU and is working on an online graduate program in Library and Information Science from Drexel University. Jan holds a B.A. in English from ASU. Camilla attended an orientation session last week in Miami for the American Library Association/Nextbook “Let’s Talk About It” book discussion grant. GUGM (GIL Users Group Meeting) will be held in Macon on May 18, 2006. Those people planning on attending must travel by rental car. |
Director: (Bill Nelson): Academic Affairs is preparing for year-end purchases. Departments should enter all remaining purchases for the fiscal year in Peoplesoft no later than close of business Friday, April 28th. Dr. Nelson asked everyone whether an in-person or webinar would be preferred for the SCOPUS demonstration. The consensus was for an online demo. The sprinkler system project continues. |

Miscellaneous: Jeff will be attending the EndUser conference (Endeavor Users’ Group Meeting) from April 19th -25th. |
