|
Library Instruction: (Camilla Baker):
* The bulk of the instruction classes for the summer were this past week.
* Four of the new freshmen orientation sessions this summer impact both
Outreach and Instruction; Camilla Baker will be involved in these, presenting
a 15-minute introduction to the library. Camilla Reid will send Camilla B.
the latest content about the library that was prepared for the Catalog, so
Camilla B. will have statistics available.

|
Technical Services: (Diane Black):
* The unit is working on serial encumbrances.
|
|
Automation: (Jeff Heck):
* The GALILEO password will change June 14.
|
|
Outreach: (Mellie Kerins):
* Bill Wells appears in a Discovery Channel program about the Coast Guard in Vietnam. We will plan to play it for anyone interested in attending, as soon as we choose a
date and place.
* Mellie asked about the publication date for the LibQUAL survey. Results,
according to Camilla Reid, likely will be sent to the participating libraries
by the end of June.
|
|
Electronic Resources: (Martha Bryant):
* The Beilstein database currently in trial is highly technical. The trial
has just started. We’ll have to depend on comment from the departments
in making a purchasing decision. It is expensive.
* Morningstar usage is low. Camilla Reid will check with Dean Marc Miller in
the College of Business to learn what they would like to do with the title.
* Emerald will be dropped at the end of our subscription, because the one
journal we subscribed to that allowed the subscription has been dropped by
the College of Education.
|
|
Government Documents: (Joe Schneider):
* During June and July, the unit will be deciding what materials from the
Government Printing Office to select for the next year. Our current selection
rate is about 60 percent; our goal is about 45 percent. Recent deselection
has focused on phone books, agriculture, and internal memorandums.
* Deborah Tritt began the first week of her internship at the Digital
Library of Georgia this week.
|
|
Media Services: (Rose Axton):
No report
|
|
Circulation/Associate Director: (Camilla Reid ):
* Michelle Deloach is the new library business manager.
* We inherited an electric golf cart from Media Services;
policies are being developed for its use. It will be used for delivery of
heavy objects, etc.
* Fine Arts is being divided into two departments (Art and Music), which
will affect their library budget allocations.
* Dar is pulling Government Documents out of the R-Z call numbers and
encountering material that could be weeded. Anyone who would like to help
evaluate the material would be welcome to assist.
* The library was asked by the Grants office to provide information for a
Title III grant application in progress.
