Special Agenda Items: |

|
1. Review the Reese Library Mission Statement Camilla Reid distributed a page with the old and new versions of our mission statement (last affirmed in January, 2006). Following discussion, a grammatical change was made. The change made in January to reflect our emphasis on student retention was retained and may be updated as the university’s mission statement is updated. It was noted that the library has taken a step to encourage retention by applying for and gaining funding for a family room (room 305).
The Mission Statement now reads: Reese Library supports the University’s mission of teaching, advancement of knowledge, and student retention and graduation by · providing effective access to a broad range of learning resources · promoting the use of quality information in all formats · instructing students in seeking and evaluating information · creating an environment in which instruction and research can flourish · encouraging lifelong learning. Reese Library supports the community mission of the university as a cultural and intellectual resource.
The group reviewed the unit plan, removing from the
document goals that had been achieved. Future review of the unit plan will
include revisions and the addition of new items for Fiscal Year 2007. |
