Special Agenda Items: Discussion of the formation of “a Committee to Implement the Adaptation of Reese Library to the Changing Information Environment.” Rick Sulzycki presented a proposal. Existing approaches and possible ways to address the request were then discussed. |

Library Instruction: (Camilla Baker): Library Instruction for January totaled 26 classes. 51 classes have been scheduled for the semester as of January 31st. |

Special Collections: (John O'Shea): Camilla Reid, Carol Waggoner-Angleton, Diane Black and John O’Shea will be attending a Circuit Rider meeting in Evans on February 14th. Information will be presented about the possibility of participating in the Second Circuit Rider Program that might provide an opportunity to have an archivist evaluate and assess ways to handle some of our archival collections. |

Technical Services: (Diane Black): The issue of backing up software that accompanies books was discussed. |

|
Automation: (Jeff Heck): EZProxy issues were mentioned as a result of a continuing move by ITS to reconfigure the campus network for security. Access to free journals listed on the EJournals page, no longer requires taking the user through EZProxy. A system to begin storage of back issues of electronic journals, in cooperation with publishers, has been acquired. LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keeps Stuff Safe) is an open-source approach developed at Stanford University. |

Outreach: (Mellie Kerins): Meet the Author with Dr. Paul Harris was extremely well attended (40 people) and featured an exceptional talk. The next Meet the Author will be Yadira Payne, from Circulation. She will speak about her book, “Out of the Rain”, on Tuesday March 6 at 2:30. The Library’s Campus Visitation Day representative on Saturday February 3rd will be Garry Juhans from Circulation. The Welcome Back Students tree is now a Valentine’s tree. Snack Break which the Library won for 100% A-Day participation, will be Wednesday February 14th. |

Electronic Resources: (Martha Bryant): EBSCO has made some database changes. Armed Conflict Database issues with charges are still being dealt with. |

Government Documents: (Joe Schneider): The IRS reproducible tax forms are no longer available as an item selection. They can be obtained online. Tax forms should be available from the public library. The site firstgov.gov has been changed to USAgov.gov |

Media Services: (Ralph Herndon): A question was clarified concerning library publications and announcements. |
||
|
Circulation/Associate Director: (Camilla Reid ): Camilla Reid reported on some issues with GALILEO subscriptions which were requested and have been delayed. The ACRL report is being submitted on Thursday. The NCES report will be an upcoming report. |
||
|
Director: (Bill Nelson): Faculty role model reports are due on February 28th or prior to the deadline. Dr. Nelson reported on a very busy ALA conference in Seattle. He attended a number of major meetings, including the LIBQUAL meeting. Some mid-year library funding requests were approved. Some reclass requests were submitted. Problems with the automatic front doors to the building were worked on during the week. Other problems with the doors still exist. |

Committee Reports: Fay Verburg attended the first Arts and Sciences post tenure committee meeting on Tuesday. |

|
Miscellaneous: Fay reported that the CSRA Library Association meeting went well. The new design of the USC-Aiken Library, where the meeting was held, is more inviting. |
