Area Reports: |
Reference: (Fay Verburg): No report. |
Library Instruction: (Camilla Baker): Several classes have already been scheduled for library instruction this summer. |
Special Collections: (John O'Shea): An application for an NEH Preservation Assistance grant was submitted last week. |
Technical Services: (Diane Black): Diane has finished processing the Fleischers’ donation. |
Automation: (Jeff Heck): The status page for GALILEO problems, maintained at Georgia State, was unable to be updated this morning, as the problem was at Georgia State itself. OIIT will review options for other ways to present status problems. Jeff set up a Wiki for a nursing class he taught this morning. The software used, PBWiki, made the task simple. |
Outreach Librarian: (Mellie Kerins): Mellie updated the Banned Books display this week. She is circulating three graduation cards and two sympathy cards for faculty and staff to sign. The Inreach Committee will be planning a party to honor all of our recent graduates on staff. The Outreach Assistant position is still unfilled, but a promising candidate is to be interviewed soon. |
Electronic Resources: (Martha Bryant): Martha has received pricing information from Ovid for the Bibliography of the History of Art database that the art department was interested in. The price would be $1297 for a site license for one year. Diane mentioned that the art department has made several changes in their journal holdings and will probably want to purchase this. Martha will contact them with the pricing information. We have also received an invoice from Elsevier for the Crossfire Beilstein database. Access for another year will be $5829.36. Andy Hauger has said that they do want to renew this database. |
Government Documents: (Joe Schneider): Joe and the search committee are currently interviewing candidates for the Library Technical Assistant II position. |
Media Services: (Bob Shannon): Bob announced that he will be retiring on August 31, 2007. |
Circulation/Associate Director: (Camilla Reid): Camilla asked for clarification for how many panels we would like removed from the glass partition in reference in order to rearrange the reference desk. Fay said that we had agreed to remove four panels. |
Director: (Bill Nelson): Dr. Nelson and several other librarians and staff will be attending the GIL Users Group Meeting tomorrow at Fort Valley State University near Macon, GA. In his absence, John O’Shea will be in charge of the library when a reference librarian is not on duty. Everyone’s Pipeline password will have to be changed on Monday May 21. Dr. Nelson and Bob Fernekes will be presenting a workshop in Winston Salem, North Carolina on May 22 and 23. |
