The Serials Department is responsible for acquiring new serial subscriptions in all available formats, including electronic journals. Please consider the following factors when evaluating requests for new subscriptions:
a. Does the periodical support the curriculum of Augusta State University?
b. Is this a core title in the discipline?
c. Is the title indexed in an index or abstract available through Reese
Library?
d. Does this title fill a gap in the subject holdings for this discipline?
e. Is this title available via full-text electronic services accessible
through Reese Library?
f. Is the title to be used primarily for faculty research and, if so,
could ILL provide a suitable substitute?
Please contact LouAnn Blocker, Electronic Resources and Serials Librarian, at 667-4907 or Marsha Reese at 667-4164 for additional information about serials orders.
Publishers' announcements, catalogs (highlight requested titles), or other information which provides a citation to the title are helpful.
Technical Services makes every effort to minimize the time required to obtain serial materials and to locate all requested titles. Placing orders early in the academic year is essential. Orders must be received by the December 5th deadline.
Every spring we ask each department to review its subscription list. We send a copy of the list with the cost of the subscription and its status to the department chair. Because the cost of subscriptions rises steadily, a department's allocation could quickly become consumed, with no money left for book orders.
