Intro to PowerPoint



Step1. Select Template, then click OK.

Step 2. Select a Presentation Design, then click OK.

Step 3. Select Title Slide, then click ok.

Step 4. Add your text to the Title Slide.

Step 5. To insert the next slide click Insert on the main menu.

Step 6. Select New Slide.

Step 7. Select a suitable AutoLayout, then click OK.

Step 8. Repeat steps 4-7 as needed.



(If you are editing an existing presentation select Open an existing presentation)



How to Save Your Presentation



Step 1. Insert a floppy disk into the floppy drive, then select File from the main menu.

Step 2. Select Save.

Step 3. Click the down arrow to the right of Save In:, then select 3 1/2 Floppy (A:).

Step 4. Type a name for your presentation in the white area to the right of File name:, then click save.





How to Save a Backup Copy of Your Presentation



Step 1. Insert your floppy disk into the floppy drive, then select File from the main menu.

Step 2. Select Save As...

Step 3. Click the down arrow to the right of Save In:, then select 31/2 Floppy (A:).

Step 4. Type a name for your presentation in the white area to the right of File name:, then click save.



Adding Text to a Presentation



Step 1. Click Insert on the main menu

Step 2. Select Text Box.

Step 3. Click the left mouse button and drag cursor until your text box is as wide as you want it.

Step 4. Enter your text.

Step 5. To edit text highlight text to be edited then select Format from main menu.

Step 6. Select the Font submenu.

Step 7. From the Font window you can change the Font, Font Style, Size of the Font, Color of the Font, or add Effects to your Font.





Adding Graphics to Your Presentation



Step 1. Select Insert from the main menu.

Step 2. Select the Picture submenu.

Step 3a.. Select Clip Art... from the Picture submenu, then select an image.

Step 3b. If you have images of your own select From File... from the Picture submenu, then select an image.

Step 3c. If you need a shape like an arrow select AutoShapes from the Picture submenu,

then select an arrow or other shape.

Step 3d. By selecting Organization Chart from the Picture submenu you can insert a tree like chart branching out from a single top node.

Step 4. To add flashy Titles or Headings select WordArt from the Picture submenu.

Step 5. From the WordArt Gallery select a WordArt Style then click OK.

Step 6. Enter your text in the Edit WordArt Text window, then click OK.

(You can also change the font, the font size, and make the font bold or italic.)



Slide Transitions and Animations



Step 1. Select Slide Show from the main menu.

Step 2. Select the Slide Transition submenu.

Step 3. From the Slide Transition window you can select Effects, Sounds, and method of Advance. You can then apply these selections to the slide you have selected or to all slides in your presentation.





To add animation to individual objects within your presentation do the following:



Step 1. Select Slide Show from the main menu.

Step 2. Select the Custom Animation... submenu.

Step 3. Click the Timing tab.

Step 4. Select objects to be animated.

Step 5. Select Animate.

Step 6. Click Effects Tab.

Step 7. Select an object.

Step 8. Select an Effect, Sound, etc..

Step 9. Arrange your animated objects in the order you wish them to appear on the slide, then click OK.



If you have charts that you want to add animation click on the Chart Effects tab, make your selections, then go to Step 9.



If you have video clips in your presentation select the Play Settings tab, make your selections, then go to Step 9.





Adding Speaker Notes

Step 1. Select View from the main menu.

Step 2. Select Notes Page.

Step 3. Type your notes in the text box provided.

 

 

Printing Speaker Notes

Step 1. Select File from the main menu.

Step 2. Select Print.

Step 3. Select Notes Pages from the Print What: drop down list.

Step 4. Click OK.

**To print slide handouts, outline, etc choose the appropriate option from the Print What drop down list**

 

 

How to Save Your Presentation for the Web



Step 1. Select File from the main menu.

Step 2. Select Save as HTML...

Step 3. Click Next.

Step 4. Click Next.

Step 5. Click Next.

Step 6. Select JPEG, then Click Next.

Step 7. Select 640 by 480, and Full width of screen, then click Next.

Step 8. Enter your E-mail address, URL for your home page, and any other information you want to appear at the beginning of your web presentation, then click Next.

Step 9. Click Next.

Step 10. Select button stile, then select Next.

Step 11. Select layout for navigation buttons, then click Next.

Step 12. Type A:\yourfolder\ as above, then click Next.

Step 13. Click Finish.

Step 14. Click Don't Save.
