Financial Aid Currently, the best option for graduate students seeking financial assistance to enroll in Master of Public Administration courses is the FEDERAL STAFFORD LOAN program. There are two types of Stafford loans. The Federal Subsidized Stafford Loan is awarded on the basis of financial need. You will not be charged any interest before you begin repayment or during authorized periods of deferment. The federal government "subsidizes", or pays the interest during these periods. This loan must be repaid.
The MPA Program itself has only two other sources of financial aid. The first is graduate assistantships (link to GA section). The second is the Gwen Y. Wood Memorial Book Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded each semester to a currently enrolled MPA student to assist in covering the cost of books. The scholarship is awarded primarily based on academic performance, with need being a secondary consideration. The MPA Program itself has only two other sources of financial aid.
