Dr. John Wojcik
Associate Professor of Music

Dr. John Wojcik is Director of the Wind Ensemble and Associate Professor of Music at Augusta State University. His duties include directing the ASU Wind Ensemble and teaching courses in conducting, instrumental music education and humanities.
Prior to ASU, Wojcik was Associate Professor of Music and Director of Bands at Delta State University in Cleveland, MS. His duties included directing the DSU Pride of the Delta Marching Band and Wind Ensemble, and teaching courses in music education and conducting. Wojcik also taught at Texas A & M University-Corpus Christi, Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa and in the Enid, Oklahoma Public School System. During his time in Texas, he established the Texas A & M-Corpus Christi University Summer Band Camp. While in Iowa, he co-founded the Iowa All-Star Collegiate Band and was the Iowa State Chair for the College Band Directors National Association.During his time in Mississippi, Wojcik helped reestablish the Cleveland, MS Summer Concert Band, and served as its music director.
Dr. Wojcik received the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Michigan State University, the Master of Music degree in Trumpet Performance from the University of Oklahoma, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Instrumental Conducting from the University of Kansas. The Instrumentalist magazine has published nine of his articles and his biographical profile has been included in Marquis Who's Who in America, Who's Who In American Teaching and Who's Who Among America's Teachers. In 2009, Dr. Wojcik contributed a Teacher Resource Guide on Clifton Williams' Caccia and Chorale to the 2nd edition of volume 1 in the Teaching Music through Performance in Band series. Dr. Wojcik also enjoys branching out into areas of research other than music. In fall 2008 he was a co-presenter for the workshop, "Writing Across the Curriculum, Improving The Writing Skills of our Students" at the Reaching Out to Mississippi-Education In Action Conference. Wojcik also keeps an active schedule as a band clinician and guest conductor.
