The Augusta State University Orchestra is a large ensemble comprised primarily of music majors, as well as a few music minors, non-majors and community members. In addition to its regular concert season performances, the orchestra also performs run-out concerts at Brandon Wilde, plays the ASU graduation ceremony, and is the featured ensemble for the annual concerto competition winner's concert. The orchestra's repertoire includes composers as diverse as Bach, Beethoven, Rimsky-Korsakov, Mendelssohn, Ennio Morricone, Michael Torke, André Previn, and John Williams. The ASU Orchestra was a featured ensemble at the 2010 Georgia Music Teachers Association annual conference, and it has collaborated with many performers including the renowned choral conductor Rodney Eichenberger, famed French conductor Bernard Thomas, and jazz great Wycliffe Gordon. Dr. Martin David Jones, who enjoys a multi-faceted career as conductor, composer, and international prize winning pianist, serves as the orchestra’s Music Director and Conductor.
