Swap Meet Information

WHO:
All competitors are invited to attend the “swap meet.”

WHAT:
The swap meet is an event designed to allow the students to mingle with competitors from other states and develop camaraderie.

WHAT TO BRING:
Competitors bring and share/swap items that are usually indicative or representative of their state. Some of the items students trade include:

  • License plates from their state
  • Stickers
  • Pins
  • Hats
  • Items from college or professional teams from the native state

Each student should bring approximately 10-15 items to swap which provide an opportunity to meet and greet other teams. Ask your Chamber of Commerce, Visitor’s Center, local business, and universities for donations!

WHERE:

James Brown Arena Exhibit Hall Room and rooms A, B, and G

A table is set up for each team to use as a base. The students usually keep at least one person at the table and rotate around to other state tables “swapping” their wares with competitors.

WHEN:

Friday, May 15 at 7:45 pm (or immediately following the Opening Ceremony)

Students should proceed directly to the swap meet area and the designated table to unload and begin the swap meet immediately after the opening ceremonies.

NOTE:

The swap meet occurs simultaneously with the coaches' meeting at which the team coaches learn of any changes in room assignments or clarifications of questions about events. The swap meet and the coaches meeting should start and end at the same time allowing the teams to return to lodging before 9:30 P.M.
