about the Program
Mission
The ASU Department of Nursing provides nursing education that fosters the student's ability to think critically about actual or potential patient care problems; utilize evidence based practice to promote wellness and to manage and coordinate patient care to intervene in problems. The Department prepares students to demonstrate caring behaviors toward diverse patient populations in a variety of settings while practicing within the legal and ethical scope of professional nursing practice. Recognizing the rapid changes in health care delivery, the Department inculcates in students the necessity of continued professional growth and development.
Vision
The ASU Nursing Program will be recognized as an outstanding undergraduate professional nursing education program focused on student learning and synonymous with nursing faculty, students, and graduates who are socially responsible, globally informed, well equipped critical thinkers and expert problem solvers proficient in meeting the health care needs of the community and state by providing culturally competent, holistic, safe, and evidence based nursing care in dynamic, diverse, and constantly changing healthcare environments.
