Summer is quickly approaching and Georgia Regents University Augusta students are taking finals and preparing for graduation. The Maxwell Theatre is also shifting gears. This is the time of year when we turn our stage over to the community. This begins with a splash. WJBF News Channel 6 takes the stage tonight with a live broadcast of the Golden Apple awards. They will honor 32 outstanding educators from throughout the CSRA.
The rest of May and June is a whirlwind of music and dance. Local dance schools bring hundreds of children to perform at the Maxwell Theatre. For many of them it will be their first time on stage. Others are seasoned veterans with ten to fifteen years of dance training. A few will become professional dancers.
The Garden City Chorus and Storm Front will dazzle audiences on Saturday night, May 4th, with tight barbershop harmonies.
In June, the building is once again filled with students. The GRU Conservatory Program invites children from the community to participate in music camps. Each week brings a camp with a different musical focus and every Friday in June students present a concert for family, friends, and the community.

Celebrate 50 years with the Garden City Chorus. This year the Garden City Chorus has invited Strom Front, 2010 Barbershop Harmony Society Gold Medal International Quartet Champions. For these four guys, the love of barbershop and great entertainment has blended to create show-stopping performances. The 2002 Rocky Mountain District champs made nine trips to the International contest stage, including Top 10 finishes each of the past six years.
The concert will also feature Chromatically Correct from Lakeside High School and other local quartets.
