Mission Statement

The mission of the Physical Plant Department is to efficiently construct, renovate maintain, operate and service the campus buildings, utilities, and grounds in order to provide a clean, comfortable, safe, healthy, and attractive environment for learning and working. This is accomplished through stewardship of human and physical resources, delivery of quality services, respect for people, and responsibility for actions.

Goals

Assure that our work is in compliance with all applicable State and Federal codes and regulations, technically appropriate, planned with consideration of total system effects and efficiently completed.

Provide assistance and support for the campus-wide effort to ensure that all construction and renovation of campus facilities is technically appropriate, minimizes life cycle costs, and provides for efficient maintenance and operation.

Execute a system of regularly scheduled maintenance actions to prevent premature failure of the facility and its systems and components. This system is to also track all customer generated work requests related to building needs to assist all classroom and extra curricular activities requirements.

Maintain an archive of campus blueprints for all buildings and project specifications for each construction project.

Create and maintain a comprehensive safety plan for all campus facilities including emergency egress, shop safety, laboratory safety, and chemical storage and disposal practices.

Maintain an accurate space allocation and utilization data to access institutional function requirements versus current allocations.

Maintain a current campus-wide Master Plan that provides for the construction and renovation of campus structures as it relates to institutional planning and development.

Ensure all communications with campus community regarding Physical Plant issues are responsive forthright, and realistic.
