Using the System

Does it matter if I use Internet Explorer or Netscape?   NO! As long as it is compatible with Internet Explorer 5, Netscape 4.7, or higher. If you experience problems when using a browser other than Internet Explorer or Netscape, make sure your operating system's "Java Virtual Machine" is current. (Note: Netscape version 6.0 had many problems and is not supported by many software programs, including Campus Pipeline.)

Access

  • How do I connect?
  • Can I access my e-mail from off-campus? If so, how?   YES!
  • Will I be able to access my stored e-mail messages from off campus?   YES!
    • If you can access the Internet, you can access the Campus Pipeline system.
    • If you can access the Campus Pipeline system, you have access to all your messages and folders.
      • Note for faculty and staff: If you use an e-mail reader other than Campus Pipeline and store messages and folders on another computer you will need to be at that computer to see those folders and messages..
Space Limitations
  • How much storage space will I have for my messages?
    • Students have 10M of storage space (many more times than most free services)!
    • Faculty and staff have 100M.

Attachments

  • Can I send and receive attachments?   Yes.
  • Are there any limits to the attachments, like sizes or number?   Yes. No more than 5 files may be attached. There are size limitations as well. When you add your attachments the computer will add the sizes and warn you if you are exceeding the limits.

Address Books

  • Can I bring my old address book into the Campus Pipeline system? If so, how?    YES!
  • What about my groups of E-mail addresses? The names of the groups will transfer, but the names of the individuals within the group will not transfer. You will need to recreate the groups within the Pipeline system.   NOTE: If you have groups with large numbers of people, you should consider using a mailing list instead. It makes maintaining the list easier.
  • How do I create a new address book?
  • How do I put someone into my address book?
