Adding another Account to at ASU

These instructions will assist you with setting up other e-mail accounts within your Campus Pipeline account.

** If you are trying to set up your email to retreive email from a Yahoo account, click here.

To set Campus Pipleine to retrieve email from other accounts, you must know the following:

  • The IP address or machine name of the machine (server) that stores your email
  • The type of server it is, such as POP or IMAP (pronounced like eye-map)
  • Your user name and password for that email account
  • Your email address for that email account

If you do not already know this information, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and they will be able to give you that information. Augusta State University's Information Technology Services cannot obtain your personal information from your ISP.

Step-by Step Instructions

  1. Log in to Campus Pipeline, if you haven't already.

  2. Click on the Email Icon.

  3. Click on the Options tab.

  4. Click on the choice "Retrieve Other E-mail"

  5. Locate the box that says "Add Other Account".

  6. In Account Name, type a single word that will remind you of what account you are adding.

  7. In Account Type, click in the appropriate type of account - POP or IMAP, as directed by your Internet Service Provider.

  8. Click the Add button.

  9. SPECIAL NOTE: The "Add POP Account" and "Add IMAP Account" screens are almost identical with the exception that POP adds the choice of leaving mail on the original server.

Complete the boxes as directed by your Internet Service Provider for the email account you wish to use within Campus Pipeline.

  10. Click the OK button. You will be returned to the "Retrieve Other E-mail" window that will show the account information. Passwords will not show on the screen.

  11. If you have another account, repeat the steps above. When you are finished, click the "Done" button to return to your email options.

  12. Click the tab marked E-mail to return to your message area.

In the far left column of your main email screen, you should see "Inbox". That is where your Campus Pipeline email will go when you retrieve email.

Under that, you should see one or more mailboxes with names that match the accounts you just set up. A plus sign ( + ) appears to the left of the mail box. Clicking on the plus sign will change it to a minus (- ) sign and let you see another Inbox. That is where the email for that account name will appear.

To hide an Inbox, click the minus ( - ) to the left of the account name. (You can't hide the Campus Pipeline Inbox.)

Managing the messages

Once the message has been placed in an Inbox, you can delete messages or store them into folders of your creation. (Use the Add button at the top of the left column to create any folders you desire.)

IMPORTANT: Deleted messages go into the "Deleted" folder and stay there until you delete them from that folder. This is a safety precaution for you because once deleted from the Deleted folder, they are permanently gone. If you are getting short on storage space, empty the "Deleted" folder first. It may be holding more than you realize.

Make it a habit to delete these messages daily, weekly, or just before you exit the email system each time you use it.

IMPORTANT: When you are finished with E-mail, click the "Exit" button in the upper left quadrant of the window.

IMPORTANT: When you are finished using Campus Pipeline, click the "Logout" button in the upper left quadrant of the window
