Friday, October 7
Creating a Culture of Opportunities will be the focus of the 8th annual Phi Kappa Phi Symposium, Friday, October 7, as part of the A Day for ASU campaign. The forum, being held from 9-10:30 a.m. in 170 University Hall, addresses the disparity between the promise and the reality of the opportunities obtained through higher education. Panelists include Dr. William A. Bloodworth, Jr., president of Augusta State; Dr. Robert Flannigan, associate professor of Spanish; Dr. Ray Whiting, special assistant to the vice president for academic affairs and professor of political science; and Ms. Cynthia Crawford, Honors Program and political science major. Dr. Peggy Ruth Geren, president of the university’s chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, will moderate the panel.
Thursday, October 20
Student Forum, 2:30-3:45pm, Room 329 Washington Hall. Students share their views about their needs, the barriers, and the support they encounter in completing their education. Please encourage your students to attend. This is not a gripe session — it is an opportunity for students to provide input. A summary report is available here.
