Cultural and Media Literacy 
Thursday, 2 February at 2:30 p.m. in 170 University Hall
"Cultural and Media Literacy," the first program in PKP's 2006 “Arsenal of Literacies Speaker Series: Reading the World,” will
be held on February 2 in University Hall 170 at noon. The presenters are Rick Pukis and Debbie VanTuyll from the Department
of Languages, Literature and Communications, and Kristen Casaletto and Janice Whiting form the Department of Fine Arts. Beth Fanning, retired emeritus professor from LL&C, will be the moderator.

Information and Computer Literacy

Phi Kappa Phi Symposium: Panelists include Camilla Baker, librarian and assistant professor of library science; Jeff Heck, automation librarian and assistant professor of library science; Camilla Reid, associate director of Reese Library and assistant professor of library science; and Thad Jackson, student in the College of Business Administration. Todd Schultz, professor of business administration, will moderate the panel. The topic is part of a year-long series, Arsenal of Literacies Speaker Series: Reading the World, which explores various literacies that identify a culturally-literate individual.

The Lost Art of Reading
Wednesday, 29 March at 12:00p.m. in Washington Hall, Towers
Phi Kappa Phi SymposiumThe Lost Art of Reading will be presented by a faculty panel consisting of Cynthia Craig, University College; Beth Pendergraft and Paulette Harris, College of Education; and Karen Sisk, Writing Center.  Bill Dodd, academic affairs, will moderate the panel and discussion. Refreshments will be provided by Phi Kappa Phi. The topic is part of a year-long series, Arsenal of Literacies Speaker Series: Reading the World, which explores various literacies that identify a culturally-literate individual.

Phi Kappa Phi Symposium: Science and Math Literacy. Panelists include David Saunders, biology; Paula Dohoney, kinesiology and health Science; Carol Rychly, mathematics; and Steve Hobbs, psychology. The topic is part of a year-long series, Arsenal of Literacies Speaker Series: Reading the World, which explores various literacies that identify a culturally-literate individual.
