Dr. Raymond A. Whiting was born in upstate New York. He attended Syracuse University where he earned a B.A. in Political Philosophy in 1985. He was then accepted into a joint degree program at Syracuse, which allowed him to earn both a J.D. In 1985 and a Ph.D. in Social Science in 1988. Between 1985 and 1990 Dr. Whiting practiced law and ran an alternative dispute resolution center in Syracuse New York. In 1990 Dr. Whiting accepted a position with the Department of Political Science at Augusta State University and moved to Augusta, Georgia where he and his family currently reside.
As an Associate Professor at Augusta State University Dr. Whiting, teaches a variety of courses relating to American government and law. During his time at Augusta State Dr. Whiting has received several honors the most important being his selection in 1995 as Augusta States Outstanding Faculty Member (awarded in recognition of teaching excellence); and his induction into the Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society in 1996.
Dr. Whiting has published a variety of articles in the area of alternative dispute resolution and the right to die. Dr. Whiting is currently completing a book manuscript concerning "Natural Law and the Right to Die."
