Research Participant Sign-Up

To sign up for studies you will need to create an account in SONA, our online research management system. SONA is located at http://augustastate.sona-systems.com/ or through the psychology department's webpage (click on Research Participant Sign-Up ). Create your account by clicking on New Participant? on the left side of the page. If you forget your password, retrieve it by clicking on Lost your password?

The first time you login, you will be asked to read and accept ethics and privacy agreements. You may then begin signing up for studies under the "Study Sign-Up" tab. Review the brief descriptions of the studies and select the studies in which you wish to participate. For each study, sign up for an available date and time. SONA will email you to remind you about studies you sign up for. Be sure to make a note of the date, time, and room number, and please be on time for the study .

SONA keeps a record of all studies for which you have signed up. Once you have participated in a study, credit will be issued to you. You can login at any time and review your credits. Note that your credits may not appear immediately. If after a few weeks your credits do not appear, contact the researcher directly. Your instructors will review your participation credits at midterm and the end of the semester. In SONA there is a list of all psychology classes being offered this semester. Be sure to allocate your participation credits to the classes you are taking, or your instructors will receive inaccurate information.

Cancellation: Please note that if you cannot attend a study, you must login to SONA and cancel at least 24 hours in advance.
