Director of ASU’s Human Resources named
Augusta, GA – Walt Alexanderson, interim director of Human Resources at Augusta State University, has been named director, effective Jan. 1. Previously, he served as director of Human Resources at Thermal Ceramics USA.“Walt has been a great addition to the ASU team,” says Dan Whitfield, vice president for business operations. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience which will benefit us greatly. He has quickly established excellent working relationships across campus. He finds solutions to problems and provides sound counsel and service to our employees.”
Before joining to Augusta State, Mr. Alexanderson, a 1978 alumnus of the university, worked at Thermal Ceramics USA for 37 years, the last 16 as the human resources director. In that role, he was responsible for all human resource activities at five manufacturing locations and a sales organization.
Mr. Alexanderson holds two U.S. Patents. He is a 1991 alumnus of Leadership Augusta and past president of the Augusta Rotary Club. Mr. Alexanderson is also a member of the Summerville Neighborhood Association, Historic Augusta, the Augusta Genealogical Society, the American Ceramic Society, the National Institute of Ceramic Engineers, the Society for Human Resource Management, and the Keramos Ceramic Engineering Academic Fraternity, among others.
He was elected to the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi in 1978 and is a recipient of the Knight of St. Patrick Ceramic Engineering Award.
Mr. Alexanderson earned a bachelor’s degree in ceramic engineering from the State University of New York College of Ceramics at Alfred University and a master’s degree in business administration from Augusta State.
