Classes begin at ASU with a week of activities

Augusta, GA – Students begin classes today at Augusta State University, and they will have the opportunity to enjoy a week of activities to start the semester.

Monday, Jan. 8What’s the Scoop? 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Jaguar Student Activities Center Breezeway. A fair for new and returning students to “get the scoop” on clubs, student services, organizations, and more. Open to ASU faculty, staff, and students.

Thursday, Jan. 11 – Vietnam veteran Richard Olsen will have his artwork on display in the Washington Hall Art Gallery through Feb. 1. The exhibit is a reflection of Mr. Olsen’s emotions regarding the Vietnam War. Open to the public.

Friday, Jan. 12 – Tri-College Martin Luther King, Jr., Observance Ceremony. Noon, Paine College in the Gilbert-Lambuth Chapel. The guest speaker will be Othal H. Lakey, the 44th Bishop of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and chair of the Commission on History and Archives. Sponsored by Paine College, the Medical College of Georgia, and ASU. Open to the public.

Saturday, Jan. 13 – Men’s and women’s basketball teams will go head to head with the University of South Carolina Upstate Spartans. Women’s team will begin at 2 p.m., men’s team will begin at 4 p.m., Christenberry Field House. Open to the public.
