Professors conduct Potter Potions Class

Augusta, Ga. –Just call it Hogwarts for the night. On the eve of the final Harry Potter book release, four Augusta State University professors from the Department of Chemistry and Physics will perform “feats of magic” for the crowd waiting in line at Barnes and Noble this evening.

At 11 p.m., Chemistry Professors Thomas Crute, Stephanie Myers, Donna Hobbs, Eric Zuckerman, and several ASU chemistry students—dressed in full wizard regalia—will showcase chemical demonstrations disguised as magic that are sure to wow the average “muggle” (that’s non-magic personnel in Harry Potter’s world).

“We’ll wave a magic wand and call it magic,” says Dr. Crute.

The event is the continuation of a tradition. The professors and students have held the Harry Potter Potions Class for the last several book releases, drawing a multitude of eager fans at the bookstore.
