Commercial contest to pick winners
Augusta, Ga. – A month-long contest to choose Augusta State University’s next television commercial will soon have a winner. At noon on Tuesday, Sept. 25, the top 10 ASU YouTube Contest videos—as voted online—will be shown in the Jaguar Student Activities Center. Afterward, audience vote, and a panel of judges will select the top three videos, awarding a total of $850 in prize money and the chance to have the winning entries broadcast on television as a commercial for the university.
ASU students have been filming 30-second commercials about what makes the school so unique and posting them on YouTube, an internet video site, for public viewing since classes started on Aug. 20. The contest drew attention from students in television and cinema classes as well as from the general student population.
The commercials can be seen by visiting www.aug.edu/asucontest or by entering “asucontest” in the search field at www.youtube.com. Anyone with a YouTube account can vote for the online finalists.
The contest is sponsored by the Office of Public Relations and Publications and the Office of Student Activities. For more information, call the public relations office at 706-737-1444.
