Richard S. Wallace Distinguished Service award

Nominations are being sought for the prestigious award recognizing a faculty member who has given distinguished service to ASU, students, and the community. Named in honor of former President Richard S. Wallace, the award recognizes contributions that exceed the normal expectation of faculty members’ professional obligations and includes the following:  the unselfish offering of time, energy, and idea; significant participation in a wide range of university and community activities; action without regard to personal benefits; support of service organizations and activities in leadership roles; projection of a positive image for the institution; involvement in programs addressing extraordinary concerns (e.g. handicapped, minority, disadvantaged, elderly, etc.); service as a mentor within the university and the community; and quality service far exceeding one’s peers in the dispatch of professional responsibilities such as student advising, committee leadership, and ad hoc committee service. The award was established by Bill and Naomi Monge.

The previous recipient chairs the selection committee, and the names of the committee members are confidential. Dr. Edward M. Pettit, last year's recipient will chair this year's committee which is comprised of two faculty members, a student, and two community representatives. Faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends
may submit nominations.

Send nominations to Dr. Pettit via email at mpettit@aug.edu.  Deadline for submissions is Tuesday, February 15. Nominations should be no longer than two pages and should describe specific ways in which the nominee has given outstanding service to our institution and community.
