Family Fun Fair at ASU

The Augusta State University Literacy Center conducted their 21st annual Family Fun Fair Saturday, March 16 in Washington Hall.

“Approximately 50 ASU education students created literacy activities that parents can do at home with their children,” said Paulette Harris, Cree-Walker Professor of Education at ASU and Literacy Center director. The program included reading, writing and arts-related activities.

“The idea of the Family Fun Fair is that the parent is the child’s first and most important teacher,” she said. “And it gives our students the opportunity to work with kids throughout the day.”

The program was designed for children ages 2 years to 12 years old and their parents. Children also received books, balloons, and other giveaways at the event. The program was co-sponsored by the Augusta Chronicle.
