Spring Brings Alumni and Friends Lauderdale Championship

The Annual Augusta State University Alumni and Friends
Lauderdale Championship will be held Friday, April 16, 2004. This long-standing
golf tradition is held at the Forest Hills Golf Course which was recently restored
to its original Donald Ross design.
New to the 2004 Lauderdale is a raffle for a trip for four to West Palm Beach,
Florida. The trip features 72 holes of golf during June 4-6, 2004. 36 holes
will be played at the PGA National Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens. The additional
36 holes will be played at the PGA Village, the winter home of the PGA. The
package also includes roundtrip airfare from Atlanta and two rooms for two nights
at the Marriott Beach Gardens. The scheduled dates for the trip are transferable
May through September 2004. Raffle tickets are $50 and available at the Maxwell
Alumni House.
Players can select a division to be a part of during the event. Those divisions
include the Women’s Division (A.M. start only), Senior Division for those
age 55+ (A.M. start only), and an Open Division (A.M. and P.M. starts). Registration
fees vary by division. However, all players receive tee gifts, continental breakfast,
a fried chicken lunch and an awards reception
Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Augusta State University NCAA Division
I men’s and women’s golf teams, ASU athletics, scholarships, and equipment
and technology funds. According to Ginger Chew, Director of Annual Giving, the
financial support of Tournament Sponsor Club Car and the four Major Sponsors
Bank of America, SouthTrust Bank, Wachovia, and Augusta Sportswear ensures a
quality tournament for the players and a significant impact on the university.
