Alumni Awards

The ASU Alumni Association presented its annual awards on February 13, 2004, at the Augusta Country Club. The 2004 award winners are Shannon Stephens (M.S. Psychology ’94) Young Alumna Award, Coco Rubio (B.A. Communications ’91) Golden Key Award, Nick W. Evans, Jr. (B.B.A. –General Business ’72) Distinguished Alumnus Award, M. Edward Pettit,Jr. (ASU Associate Dean/Professor College of Arts and Sciences) Distinguished Service Award, and Don Howard (Associate Professor Business Administration) Town and Gown Award.

More than 140 ASU alumni and friends attended the Alumni Association Annual Meeting and Awards Celebration at the Augusta Country Club on February 13, 2004. Officers for the Alumni Association Board of Directors were elected during the meeting. Meet The New Board Members
Six alumni were elected to serve three-year terms on the Alumni Association Board of Directors. They are Julie Cole (M.B.A. ’03), Chris Etterlee (B.B.A. - Finance ’97), Scott Henson (M.Ed. ’93), Jeff Johnston (B.A. - Political Science ’98), Lynthia Ross (B.A. - Communications ’03), and Laura Tilt ( B.B.A. - Accounting ’00).

Amber Adams (B.A. - French ’98) married Scott Zimmerman (B.A. – Criminal Justice) on February 24, 2002. Amber is a grant and student employment manager at ASU. Scott is a deputy with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office. They reside in Augusta.

Angela Leigh Coursey ( B.S. - Chemistry ’99) married Timothy James Spencer on November 8, 2003. Angela is completing a doctorate degree at the University of North Carolina. They reside in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Natalie Brody ( B.A. - Communications ’02) joined MAU, Inc. as a professional recruiter. She is responsible for interviewing and placing professional candidates nationwide.

Kevin Moreland (B.B.A. - Marketing ’97) works as the Marketing Officer for the Shetland Islands Council in Shetland, Scotland. Kevin and his wife Shannon stay busy keeping up with their 19-month old son, Tyler. They are expecting a second child in April. Emails can be sent to Kevin at delts_99@yahoo.com.

Scott Vasquez (B.S. - Biology ’99) has been appointed as an officer of SouthTrust Bank. Scott is also a Corporate Services Representative.

Janet Jennings ( B.B.A. - Marketing ’03) married Scott M. Wheatley on March 6, 2004. Janet is the Marketing Coordinator at the Radisson Riverfront Hotel in Augusta.

Frank Mulherin (B.A. Sociology - ’80) has been selected to serve as Chairman of the ASU Alumni and Friends Lauderdale Championship. Frank is the General Manager of Ivan Allen in Augusta.
