Lady Jags finish season with 24-8 record

A bus filled with the pep band, cheerleaders, and fans made the 14-hour trip to St. Joseph, Mo., to watch the Lady Jags basketball team take on the Merrimack College Warriors for a place in the national NCAA Final Four Women’s Basketball Championship.

The Lady Jags Basketball team earned a spot in the Elite Eight NCAA Championship Basketball Tournament by reeling off three consecutive victories over nationally-ranked opponents in the South Atlantic Regional March 12-15 in Raleigh, N.C.

Marking their first-ever appearance at the Elite Eight, the Lady Jags finished their season 24-8, winning eight of their final 10 games. The fifth-ranked Warriors defeated the Lady Jags 76-68 in the National Quarterfinals of the 2004 Division II Women’s Basketball Championship.

Augusta State was led by Alshaa’ Hodges and Brandi Hollingsworth – each scoring 15 points. Ernesia Wideman added 11.
