Teleconference reunites soldiers in Iraq with families

teleconference families

More than 60 families were reunited with their loved ones serving in Iraq via a video teleconference held at ASU on March 27. The soldiers, all part of Company B of the 878th Engineer Battalion of the Army National Guard, have been serving in Iraq since June 2, 2003.

The video conference, organized by the family support unit for the 878th, marked the first time in almost a year many of the families had seen their fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, husbands, and wives since the unit was deployed.

The unit is expected to return to Fort Stewart in early June and should return home full-time in August. Most soldiers from the 878th are from the Augusta area, but many come from areas as far away as Atlanta and Columbia.
