Educational Incentive Program (EIP) grants now available

University HallFunds are available now for five ASU Educational Incentive Program (EIP) grants for summer semester. Any regular employee who is benefit eligible, with a work commitment of 50 percent or more, and who has been employed at the university for at least one year as of May 18 may apply to participate in the EIP program. The maximum grants are $388 for an approved undergraduate course and $468 for an approved graduate course. Employees who receive other scholarships and need-based financial aid are only eligible for an EIP grant to defray the part of tuition not covered by financial aid. Coursework can be credit or non-credit courses and must apply toward the first bachelor’s or master’s degree, or be related to the employee’s job. A supervisor must sign the application before it can be processed. Completed applications are being accepted in the Personnel Office through April 5. Applications will be assigned a number for the lottery as they are received and applicants will receive notification of their status no later than April 7.

Any regular employee can also attend job-related continuing education courses, as determined by their supervisor, at no or reduced tuition on a space available basis. A small supply fee may be applicable. Employees who have received written approval should register through continuing education. Those who wish to take a job-related continuing education course may apply for EIP funds, which are granted, when available, at any time during the year. Copies of the continuing education application and balance of fees must be submitted to the business office before the course payment deadline.

Full-time employees who have been employed for at least six months and are benefits eligible can receive funds through the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) for up to eight semester credit hours. The TAP policy and application is available at www.usg.edu/employment/benefits/tuition/policy.phtml. TAP forms are due in the Personnel Office by April 15. Employee registration will be May 18 for summer session A and June 23 for session B.

For more information about any of these programs, call personnel at 737-1763.
