Dodge Tour de Georgia route goes by Augusta State University

Faculty, staff, and students will get the chance to see famed cyclist Lance Armstrong and other world-class competitors as they whiz past Augusta State University in the 2005 Dodge Tour de Georgia on Tuesday, April 19. Augusta is hosting the official start of the race, a six-day race that will finish 650 miles later on Sunday, April 24, in Alpharetta. The estimated time that the cyclists will pass ASU is 11:30 a.m. to noon.

Fifteen international teams have been invited to compete in the event. Along with six-time Tour de France and reigning Dodge Tour de Georgia champion Lance Armstrong, the top echelon of professional cycling are expected to compete including world champion Mario Cipollini and Olympic medalist Bobby Julich.

The Dodge Tour de Georgia is a one-of-a-kind rolling festival as well as a world-class racing event and will feature a multitude of activities for spectators in cities statewide. Augusta is no exception, with four days of family fun and festivals planned to welcome the event.
