Staff Spotlight: Tim Bond

What started out as a college job for Tim Bond has quickly turned into his life’s passion. Mr. Bond, who is an academic advisor in the START-UP Center, has worked at ASU since 1991.

“I was working as a student employee in the student activities office when START-UP was created,” he says. “People realized that we needed an office to deal with enrollment management and students who were undecided majors.”

As a student, Mr. Bond says he knew he wanted to work in a university setting, and he was able to gain useful leadership experience as a member of the ASU Student Union Program Board—now the Jaguar Activities Board.

Since his graduation in 1991, Mr. Bond has moved from student employee to a full-time academic advisor. In that role, he coordinates orientation for new students and advises undergraduates.

“Being a former student myself gives me an interesting perspective when I’m working with students,” he says.

Outside of work, Mr. Bond enjoys watching movies and playing trivia with friends. But, his first love will always be working with students, he says.

“I also really enjoy this campus’s atmosphere,” he says.
