Phi Kappa Phi monthly forum is April 19

Phi Kappa Phi’s monthly forum in the year-long focus on literacy will be held on Wednesday, April 19, at noon in W1002 Science Building. A faculty panel will address various aspects of science and math literacy and will include David Saunders, biology; Paula Dohoney, kinesiology and health Science; Carol Rychly, mathematics; and Jennie Roberts, nursing. The panel will be moderated by Stephen Hobbs, psychology. The topic is part of a year-long series, Arsenal of Literacies Speaker Series: Reading the World, which explores various literacies that identify a culturally-literate individual.

Two Phi Kappa Phi forums were held in March. The Lost Art of Reading was addressed on March 29 in Washington Hall Towers by a panel consisting of Cynthia Craig, University College; Beth Pendergraft and Paulette Harris, College of Education; and Karen Sisk, Writing Center. William Dodd, academic affairs, moderated the panel.

Information and Computer Literacy was presented on March 2 in 170 University Hall. Panelists included Camilla Baker, Jeff Heck, and Camilla Reid, Reese Library, and Thad Jackson, a student in the College of Business Administration. Todd Schultz, College of Business Administration, moderated the panel.
