On Aug. 8, Brenda Reese will
celebrate a milestone. That day will mark her 20th year working for Augusta State
University. But Reese has a reason to celebrate early. She has been named the
Physical Plants Employee of the Quarter. Receiving the recognition was
a real honor, she said. I really was just so surprised, she said.
Reese began her career as a custodian at Augusta State working in Hardy Hall
in 1983. Since then, she has worked in buildings all over campus, including an
11-year stay in the Christenberry Field House, formerly the Physical Education
Athletic Complex. She says the best part of her job is all of the interaction
with faculty and staff on campus. I love working with all of the people,
she said.
When shes not working, Reese says she enjoys gardening, going to church,
and spending time with her seven grandchildren.
Faculty and staff parking decals will go on sale at the public
safety office August 1. Due to construction and the decreased amount of parking
available on campus, parking decals for 2003-04 will cost $10 for this academic
year only. Parking will be available at the McDowell Street lot of Trinity on
the Hill Church, lot 27 at McDowell St. and Arsenal Ave. (across from the St.
Mary Church's lot), and the parking lots of the Jewish Synagogue and First Southern
Methodist Church, both on Johns Road. For more information, call public safety
at 737-1401.
