New ASU identification cards are available

ID card

New ID cards for faculty, staff, and students are available in the Office of Student Activities in Washington Hall. Turn in the old ID to receive a new ID at no charge. A $15 fee will be required of anyone who has lost the old ID card.

Dan Whitfield, associate vice president for business operations, says that this is only the first phase of the new card program. By fall semester 2005, Mr. Whitfield says the ID cards will serve as a type of debit card that can be used on campus to purchase items such as food, books, and vending, as well as to pay fines, gain access to buildings, manage print/copy projects, receive financial aid reimbursements, and more. During the upcoming spring semester, a group of students will test the new card system.

"The main thrust is to get a card that can be used all over campus," Mr. Whitfield says. "This is a necessary first step, and this system gives us a future platform on which to build."
