John H. "Red" Price is retiring after serving for 24 years as the general manager of Forest Hills Golf Course. Robbie Watson, head professional at the club since 1991, will become general manager. The announcement was made Wednesday, July 28, by Don Grantham, the chair of the club's management committee. The golf club, owned by the University System and managed by the Augusta Golf Association, is home to the men's and women's ASU golf teams. Mr. Watson, an ’87 alumni, also played on the Augusta College golf team. "I've known Red for that long and the support that he's given ASU's golf team has been incredible," Mr. Watson says. "I've learned a lot from him. This golf course is getting better and better every day. I really appreciate this opportunity that I've been given." In addressing members of the UGA, the university, and the media, Mr. Price remarked: "When I came here the Augusta Golf Association told me they wanted two things – the best public golf course in the country and the best college golf team. "I think we’re well on our way to being the best course, and the golf team has been ranked number two in the nation. It's been a pleasure to be here. I don't plan on completely retiring; I'm going to stick around to help."
