Week of Welcome kicks off Aug.11

ASU's Week of Welcome for new and returning students will kick off with Move-in Day Friday, Aug. 11. Faculty, staff, and alumni will be on hand to assist students moving into their new home away from home at University Village.

Highlights of the week include a New Student Convocation on Sunday, Aug. 13, from 3-5 p.m. in the Christenberry Field House. President William A. Bloodworth, Jr., representatives of the Student Government Association, and Mr. and Ms. Augusta State will welcome the incoming students during a program led by Joyce Jones, vice president for student services and dean of students.

During ASU Day at the Mall on Saturday, Aug. 19, faculty, staff, and students will receive a 10 percent discount at select locations throughout the mall.

On Monday, Aug. 21, students will have the opportunity to browse displays, receive information on campus activities, programs, and services, and have a free ice cream at What's the Scoop? Student Services Day.

On Aug. 24, The Real World cast member Ruthie Alcaide will tell her story about battling alcohol addiction.

The week will culminate with a night of Cosmic Bowling on Friday, Aug. 25, at Brunswick Bowling Alley located on Washington Road.

Week of Welcome Official Kick-Off Fiesta. 6-9 p.m., University Village.

Aug. 19           
A Day at the Augusta Mall with ASU. Normal business hours, Augusta Mall.

Movie on the Lawn. Scary Movie 4. 9-11 p.m. University Village Courtyard.

Aug. 20
Sand Volleyball Tournament and Intramural Sports. 5-7 p.m., University Village.

Aug. 21
Classes Begin.

Aug. 22
Coaches Cookout. 11 a.m.-2 p.m., JSAC.

Aug. 23
ASU's Next Top Model. 11 a.m.-Noon, JSAC Breezeway.

Aug. 24
Ruthie from The Real World. 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m., JSAC Ballroom.

Buffalo Bingo with Cowboy Mike. Noon-2 p.m., JSAC Café.

Aug. 25
Cosmic Bowling. Midnight-2 a.m., Brunswick Bowling Alley.
