Hendee named executive director of development and alumni relations

Helen Hendee has been promoted to the position of executive director of development and alumni relations at Augusta State University. As such, she will serve as the chief development officer of the university and the chief operating officer of the Augusta State University Foundation.

Ms. Hendee, a 1970 alumna, has served the university in many roles, beginning in 1970 as assistant coordinator of student activities. On two different occasions she has served in a temporary capacity as the chief development officer.

“Helen Hendee has wide experience in development work, foundation relations, and alumni affairs. She knows the university and the community well, has extraordinary levels of energy, and is truly dedicated to her alma mater,” says President William A. Bloodworth, Jr. “I have no doubt that she will provide great leadership for our efforts in development and alumni affairs.”

In addition to her bachelor’s degree in sociology from ASU, Ms. Hendee holds a master’s degree in student personnel administration from the University of Georgia.

Her awards include an alumni relations award from the Georgia Education Advancement Council in 2002, the 2005 Outstanding Fundraising Professional Award from the Augusta chapter of the American Association of Fundraising Professionals, and, in 1983, the Golden Key Award from the ASU Alumni Association.

Ms Hendee is a member of the Rotary Club of Augusta and Leadership Augusta Executive forum. A volunteer with the Department of Family and Children Services, and an executive committee member of the Metroboard of the Family Y.
