Russell A. Blanchard Fountain dedication

The fountain located at the Walton Way entrance of Augusta State University will be dedicated on Friday, Dec. 9, at 4 p.m. in honor of Russell A. Blanchard, a 1928 alumnus of the Junior College of Augusta.

Dr. Blanchard’s dedication of time and resources to ASU has earned him this prestigious honor. In 1998 the university awarded him the Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters, and in 2005 he received the President’s Award. Dr. Blanchard is a member of the ASU Foundation and is also a charter member of the organization. In 2001, he established the Russell A. Blanchard Endowment within the College of Business Administration.

Dr. Blanchard, a retired banker, has served as president of the Georgia Bankers Association, as a member of the American Bankers Association, and as a member and president of the State Bank Division. He is the past president of the Rotary Club of Augusta and the United Fund of Augusta. Dr. Blanchard was also the organizer of the North Augusta Chamber of Commerce.
