University officials have selected the firm that will
help ASU plan for its future. The Sizemore Group has been chosen to design
a new master plan, officials announced Jan. 14.
Sizemore, an Atlanta-based architecture and strategic planning firm, will
create a plan that not only takes into consideration growth and technology
needs for the university for the next 15 to 20 years, but also enhances the
campus community.
We need to know how this institution can continue to achieve its mission
beyond its current student capacity, said President William A. Bloodworth,
Jr. We need a plan that looks further into the future than our previous
plan did.
ASUs current master plan, developed in 1997, is nearly fully implemented,
and more importantly, campus has almost reached capacity as defined by the
97 plan, said Kathy Hamrick, special coordinator for academic and master
planning. The new master plan will also address future infrastructure needs
that must be taken into consideration before demolition of the warehouse classrooms
can proceed, Hamrick said.
The planning process should begin by Feb. 1 and be completed by August.
