Rains Hall

Construction Update

University Hall
Construction on University Hall is nearing completion, after which the computer network will be installed and furniture will be moved in. Landscaping is being done now. The tentative date for moving into the new facility will be late summer.

Main Entrance/Loop Road
The project is progressing on schedule, and will be completed by this summer. (We appreciate everyone's patience with the necessary utility interruptions.) The main entrance project is part of the Classroom Replacement Building II project. There are no arches planned to extend over the roadway. A large fountain, similar to one at Surrey Center, will be installed.

History Walk
The work along the History Walk has been completed, however, there was some slight damage from the ice storm (mainly the cabling for trees). The cannon, previously located in front of Payne Hall, is to be installed adjacent to the museum, and footings are being poured now for the carriage that will hold the cannon. The museum is open daily, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

Student Housing
Conceptual site plans have been drawn up. A market study, conducted over the ASU Pipeline, shows a demand for 558 students plus athletes.

Student Center
The Request for Qualifications (RFQ) have been sent to select an architect and investment banker, and these will be selected soon. Construction is expected to get underway on the approximately 50,000 square foot building this summer. It will be sited between the library and Hardy Hall.

Bellevue Hall
Work on Bellevue Hall-the oldest building on campus—will begin in late February and is expected to take about 10 months to complete. The cost of this work is about $800,000.

Old Academic Buildings
In preparation for the demolition of the old academic buildings, work will begin in a few weeks to reroute the utilities. This project will involve an excavation completely around all six buildings. The excavation will only disturb a couple of hundred feet at a time, but the crew will progress entirely around all six buildings. Access to all buildings will be maintained at all times. Some utility service interruptions to these buildings are to be expected.
