Kim
Davies, sociology, made a recent poster presentation at the Homicide
Research Working Group meetings in St. Louis, Mo., entitled The
Socio-Spatial Location of Killings by Women in Three Georgia Counties
During the 1990s. The research extends previous research performed
by Lori Scott for her Honor's thesis.
Chip Darracott, kinesiology & health
science, presented Can Physical Education and
Sport Contribute to Moral Development, at the Georgia Association
for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance Annual Convention
at Callaway Gardens. He also co-presented Conducting
a Successful Summer Sports Camp, with Shirley
Darracott, kinesiology & health science, and collaborated with
two other GAHPERD members on a pre-convention workshop entitled Tips
for Fitness Testing: Everything You Need to Know for Testing Youth.
Marya Free was named the Phi Kappa Phi
Director of Fellowships for 2001-04. Free retired from the ASU English
department in December 2000.
Edward Cashin, department of history, was
re-elected as president of the Board of Historic Augusta.
Mark
Fissel, academic affairs, was elected as a board member for Historic
Augusta at their annual meeting.
Jurgen Brauer, college of business, and
his son became certified Professional Association of Diving Instructors
Divemasters. Brauer and his daughter were also published on novice underwater
digital photography.
Bill Nelson, Reese library, presented a
workshop on academic libary assessment, ACRL
Standards 2000: A Workshop of Practical Solutions for Academic Library
Assessment for the Private Academic Library Network of Indiana,
and a second presentation Assessing Academic
Libraries: Practical Application of the ACRL Standards for College Libraries
for the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.
Deborah Richardson, psychology, has been
named by the Society for the
Psychological Study of Social Issues as the program chair for the August
2003 American Psychological Association Convention. The annual conference
will be held in Toronto.
