Interim nursing department chair named

PriceAugusta State University has named Charlotte Price, associate professor of nursing, as the interim chair for the Department of Nursing effective July 1.

Price has co-authored several articles on nursing that have appeared in national professional journals, the most recent appearing in a 2001 issue of the Nurse Educator about using university alumni to mentor nursing students.

Price is involved in both community and campus organizations. She is on the boards of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill and the American Red Cross, and is a member of the American and Georgia's Nurses Association. She is also on a subcommittee of the GNA, investigating the possibility of providing continuing education opportunities online for nurses. On campus, Price is advisor for the Phi Chi Alpha Beta Chapter of the Chi Eta Phi nursing sorority.

She joined Augusta State in 1986. She received her bachelor and master of nursing degrees from the Medical College of Georgia, and in 1998 her doctorate in education from Nova Southeastern University, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Elizabeth House, dean of the Pamplin College of Arts and Sciences, selected Price to fill the position of retiring chair, Letha Lierman.
