ASU selects new sports information director
Augusta
State University recently announced Joey Warren as the new sports information
director. Warren comes to ASU from Georgia Southern University, where
he was the assistant athletic media relations director for the past four
years. In that capacity he was the primary publicist for the mens
basketball, womens soccer, and mens golf programs.
He has a bachelors degree in sports management with an emphasis
in communications from GSU. Prior to that he was a sports writer for the
Statesboro Herald, and a general assignment
reporter for the Effingham Herald. He
is an active member in the College Sports Information Directors of America,
the U.S. Basketball Writers Association, and the Southern Conference Sports
Media Association.
I feel that Joey Warren brings tremendous ability and potential
to our department, said Clint Bryant, ASU director of athletics.
The past four years at Georgia Southern has prepared and groomed
him well for the challenges and opportunities we face at ASU in sport
media relations. He has a wealth of experience and we look forward to
making him a part of our athletic family, he said.
I would also like to publicly thank Eva McGillivray for the job
she has done as interim sports information director. She is to be commended
for her services.
Warren begins his new position July 8.
