Campus Notables
Michael Bishku, history and
anthropology, had an article entitled Turkish Bulgarian
Relations: From Conflict and Distrust to Cooperation, appear in the spring
issue of Mediterranean Quarterly.
Pamela Hayward, languages, literature, and
communications, co-authored an article entitled Choice-Based
Learning: Students Reactions in an Undergraduate Organizational Communication
Course, which was published in the spring issue of Communication
Education.
Brian Rust, fine arts, will
have an exhibition of his artwork in Atlanta at the Bank of America building
during July.
Hubert van Tuyll, history and anthropology,
was recently appointed secretary of the Society Netherlandic History.
Jurgen Brauer, economics, was
on a 3-1/2
week long lecture tour in South Africa to present his forthcoming book, War
and Nature: The Environmental Consequences of War. The tour was supported
by a grant from South Africa's National Research Foundation (NRF). He spoke at
the University of Cape Town, Stellenbosch University, the University of the Western
Cape, the University of Port Elizabeth, the University of Natal-Durban, and the
University of South Africa (UNISA) in Pretoria. On his return, he spoke at the
University of the West of England (UWE) on the impact of conflict on international
trade in Bristol, England.
Emam Hoosain, teacher development,
had an article, Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI)
published in the spring 2003 issue of Reflections,
a journal published by the Georgia Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
