Robinson named chair of mathematics and computer science

Dr. Sam Robinson, professor of mathematics at Augusta State University, has been named chair of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at ASU.

A native of Jackson, Miss., Dr. Robinson began his teaching career at ASU in 1999 and became acting chair of the department in 2000. Prior to joining ASU, he served as a mathematics professor at the William Paterson University of New Jersey and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

He is a member of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, the International Association for Mathematical Physics, the American Mathematical Society, and the American Physical Society.

Dr. Robinson earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and his doctoral degree in mathematics, with a specialty in mathematical physics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
