New leadership on Board of Regents
At their June meeting, the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia elected a new chair and vice chair for a one-year term, effective July 1. Regent Allan Vigil will serve as chair, and Regent William H. Cleveland will serve as vice chair.
Regent Allan Vigil was elected chair of the Board of Regents (BOR) in June for a one-year term.
Mr. Vigil, appointed regent by Gov. Sonny Perdue in August 2003, served last year as chair of the Committee on Real Estate and Facilities.
“I am honored by this appointment and the high level of accountability that accompanies it,” Mr. Vigil says. “This is a challenging assignment that requires strong support from the entire board. I look forward to joining with my fellow regents in providing the leadership and direction that will continue to propel the University System of Georgia.”
As chair, Mr. Vigil will join with the other members of the BORs’ Executive Committee on establishing the board’s primary goals and objectives for the coming year.
